Here's a beautiful watertight terrace on stilts between two walls with Cumaru decking that we built. We've detailed every stage of the project: structure, watertight joisting, invisible fixing of the boards, railing, staircase and rainwater drainage.
Installing profiles
The underside of the profiles
1 : Installation of Metadeck profiles to create an elevated terrace (on watertight stilts)
2 One of the undersides of Metadeck profiles, powder-coated at the factory, colourfast for life
Installing the posts
Creating a wooden staircase
3 The party wall was unreliable. We didn't lean on it. We put up posts, as if the wall didn't exist.
4 : The staircase leading down to the garden from our terrace.
The supporting structure of the terrace
System to prevent rain penetration
5 Construction details of the supporting structure
6 This "triangle" allowed rain to pass through at an angle. We developed a solution to prevent rain penetrating through this area
View of the structure
Creation of a culvert
7 : A load-bearing structure that is fairly simple to design
8 The chase between the end of the profiles and the opposite wall. This wall was very crumbly
Fixing a lead flashing
Installation of decking on Metadeck profiles
9 We therefore fitted a special lead flashing in the traditional way (lime plaster) to ensure a watertight seal between the channelling and the old wall.
9 The decking is installed on Metadeck profiles. It's impossible to guess that the terrace is 100% waterproof for life.
11 Final stage: fitting the railings.
