This aluminium part slides into the MetaDeck profile and acts as an anchor for the guardrail posts.

The aluminium is thick enough. The guardrail plate (French installation, from above) is screwed into this anchor using self-drilling screws. This avoids the risk of piercing the MetaDeck profile.
